Although it is still 'off season' in the hospitality business, our Cobbs Cakes are going out the door of the bakery like the seasonal 'snow of a dyke'!

Morning Coffee and Cake, Afternoon Tea, Hot Chocolate and Brownie or just a glass of milk and Tray Bake' is the ultimate escapist fix in these dark days of winter and economic doom and gloom around us.

Here at Cobbs we are delighted to bring a little cheer and put a smile and a sense of wellbeing on peoples faces.
Through these dark days the Cobbs think-tank has been working overtime and one of the new ideas which has emerged will allow you to buy Cobbs Cakes for your homes - not just for special occasions but for all occasions.

It will enable you to have a whole Cobbs Cake at home for afternoon tea, high-tea or when your family and friends just feel like it.

Very shortly we are hoping to open sections in retail establishments called 'COBBS CAKEAWAY' where you'll be able to buy a whole frozen cake from our vast range of home baked hand finished cakes. This Cobbs 'out of the box' product will put an end to all those worrying moments when guests arrive unexpectedly, lost for an idea for dessert, want to impress or just fancy a piece of cake.

You take the product home frozen, stick it in the deep freeze and leave it there until required. Take it out half an hour before service then add your own garnish ideas to give it your personal touch - fresh fruit like strawberries, rasps or kiwi, ice-cream, fresh cream or yogurts, fruit coulis, chocolate or butterscotch sauce, flaked almonds or chopped nuts. For example take a slice of Cobbs Lemon Drizzle Cake, garnished with whipped cream laced with the Italian liquer Limoncello with a side serving of fresh blueberries.

Cobb Cakes for Charity

Congratulations to all the teams and customers for raising the fantastic sum of £1,500 for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. This was a splendid example of team effort.
Last Sunday (7th February) everybody who had cakes at our outlets were asked to make a donation as opposed to paying for them. This is how the total sum was achieved and hopefully it will be a small contribution to the poor souls in the disaster region - once again, our thanks to all.

Last week our new wrapping machine arrived from Italy and was installed and put to work right away with some test samples of our new range of retail products - hopefully to hit the market in March.
So far the reaction from both existing customers and potential new ones has been very good.
We are all looking forward to a new era at Cobbs with these 'retail' products.

Apart from pre-wrapped tray bakes, a new line of mini loaf cakes are being tested at the moment by Sheena and her team at the Bakery.
Fraser and I have the pleasure of doing some sample tasting and I must say - they are delicious!
My favorites are the Cherry Cake and the Lemon Cake (warmed in the microwave and served with lemon sauce) and of course Sticky Toffee Pudding (served warm with fresh cream)

Monster sales of Coffee and Cakes

In these days of credit crunch, doom and gloom and hazerdous winters it's good to hear some positive news.

As the financial year draws to an end for most people it is a time to reflect on the previous year's business and how to plan ahead for the next year.

Here at Cobbs, we bake a delicious range of home-made cakes for an ever growing clientele of retail outlets but also supply our own chain of eight 'Cobbs Coffee Houses' where we also offer our customers some of the finest coffee in the UK.

Our coffee supplier is Brodie's of Edinburgh and at at meeting with them earlier this week they told us that last year we sold 1.5 tons of coffee throughout out outlets. This equates to 250,000 cups!

This news delighted both director of Cobbs, Fraser Campbell and Neil Archer from Brodies. The icing on the cake for Cobbs is the fact that the majority of these cups of coffee would be accompanied by either a piece of home-made cake, traybake or shortbread from our own bakery here in the village of Drumnadrochit on the shores of Loch Ness.
Fraser said 'this is an astonishing amount of coffee and cakes but it is extremely good news as it sustains our workforce in these difficult economical times'.
